Bernama reported on 5 October 2026 that the dates were locked in after the slot was confirmed on the UCI calendar. The race follows the 2027 SEA Games, which end on 29 September, and comes before the ASEAN Para Games from 17 to 23 October.
The route is not fixed. Organisers said they were weighing a return to the East Coast, including Kelantan and Terengganu, and want to keep the Gunung Jerai climb if the ministry approves.
